On June 4, 2026, PhilCham Shanghai sat down with the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai and our Filipino community leaders to unveil something we have been building with heart and purpose: PhilCham's relaunch platform, our roadmap for the Filipino business and professional community in Shanghai from 2026 to 2028. We walked away with something we are deeply proud to share with all of you: the full support of the Consulate and our community partners.

It was a milestone moment, and a reminder of what becomes possible when our community moves forward together.

The session was led by PhilCham Shanghai Chairperson Joanna Lim and Vice Chairperson Sherie Abby Lim-Deschaine, who presented the Chamber's vision and roadmap to a room full of partners who share our commitment to the Filipino community.

We were honored to be joined by:

  • Consul General Myca Magnolia M. Fischer, Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai

Our Mission & Vision

At the heart of PhilCham Shanghai is a simple promise: to be a unified and credible voice for the Filipino business community, to build strategic partnerships with Chinese business associations and trade organizations, and to champion Philippine tourism.

That vision, first shared by Chairperson Joanna Lim during the Board's oath-taking before the Consulate in April 2026, is rooted in three words: education, growth, and representation. It means bridging businesses between China and the Philippines, uplifting the Filipino brand in business, and supporting our kababayan as they grow their careers, their businesses, and their sense of purpose here in Shanghai.

PhilCham's Relaunch Platform: Built on Four Pillars

PhilCham's relaunch platform is our structured, community-first roadmap, built on four pillars:

  • Professional Growth

  • Business Collaboration

  • Community Belonging

  • Strategic Partnerships

Everything we build over the next two years flows from these four commitments.

What's Coming Under Our Relaunch Platform

The roadmap turns those pillars into real, practical programs designed for every part of our community.

For professionals: PhilCham Connect+, the PhilCham Mentor Hub, and Career Workshop.

For entrepreneurs: Industry Tours, the Filipino Virtual Market, and SME support programs.

For the wider community: P-Noise 2.0 Podcast, the Charity Gala, and many more!

These initiatives reflect what we heard and felt in the room: that our programs should go beyond gatherings and deliver real value, that Filipino talent deserves to be seen and celebrated, and that what we build should be sustainable and made to last.

It Starts with PhilCham Connect+

Our flagship program kicks off this month. The inaugural PhilCham Connect+ session is:

AI-Powered Transformation: How Leaders Are Rebuilding Business, Work & Teams to Thrive in 2026

A live panel and Q&A will be moderated by Johannes Tan.

The Consulate's Words

We were moved by the support shared by Consul General Myca Magnolia M. Fischer:

The Filipino community in China is evolving, and we must evolve with it. PhilCham's relaunch platform offers a structured, collaborative platform that complements the work of the Consulate, DTI, DOT, and our community leaders. We fully support their efforts to help Filipinos grow careers, build businesses, and strengthen our sense of belonging here in Shanghai.

Moving Forward, Together

The Philippine Consulate General, PTIC, DOT, and our Filipino community leaders committed to real synergy, joint programming, and resource sharing, all in service of Filipinos across China.

To every partner who joined us at the table, thank you. Thank you for your time, your trust, and your belief that when we work together, our community grows stronger. This is the road ahead, and we are walking it together.
