A New Chapter for PhilCham Shanghai: Meet the 2026 Board of Directors

The Philippine Chamber of Business and Professionals in Shanghai (PhilChamSH) proudly announces the official oath-taking of its newly elected Board of Directors. Administered by Philippine Consul General Myca Magnolia Fischer at the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai on April 11, 2026, the ceremony marked not just a transition in leadership, but the beginning of a stronger, more dynamic, and more impactful chapter for the Filipino business community in China.

Joanna Lim Takes the Helm

Longtime Shanghai resident and Filipino businesswoman Joanna Lim steps in as Chairperson of the Board, bringing with her a clear sense of purpose and continuity.

“We will be carrying on the legacy of past Chairs and move to a more energized, intentional direction, helping both long-time Filipinos and newly arrived ones find their footing in Shanghai.”

Her vision for the term centers on three pillars: Education, Growth, and Representation, bridging businesses between China and the Philippines, uplifting the Filipino brand, and supporting Filipinos at every stage of their career and entrepreneurial journey.

A Ceremony of Significance

The oath-taking at the Consulate reflected the depth of PhilChamSH’s role as a close partner of the Philippine government in Shanghai’s economic diplomacy efforts. In her remarks, Consul General Fischer highlighted Shanghai’s strategic importance in China’s economic landscape and proposed nine measures to strengthen the Chamber’s standing, chief among them: to act as a unified and credible voice of the Filipino business community, to build partnerships with Chinese and international business associations, and to champion Philippine tourism.

The ceremony was attended by FILCOMSHA President Michelle Teope-Shen, former PhilChamSH Chairs Eric So and Carol Ong, outgoing Chair Joe Santiago, Vice Consul (Commercial) Jose Ma. S. Dinsay, and Consul John Francis S. Herrera.
