Heroes Need Mask (Pledge your mask donation for Philippine health workers)

Updated: Sep 13, 2023

Our Health Workers in the Philippines are running out of masks and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and medical supplies, especially for smaller hospitals in Metro Manila. PhilCham SH has found a supplier for 10,000 authentic three-ply surgical masks which can be air freighted to Manila. For this first batch, we intend to support the medical staff at UERM University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Hospital. PLEDGE YOUR SUPPORT NOW. Deadline for pledge is on March 22, 2020 SUNDAY, for batch 1 donation. All proceeds for this mask drive will go to Covid 19 donations. When we exceed targets, we will either add more masks for this batch, or send another batch. To put it in perspective ONE 24hr health worker (3 shifts) need 5-6 masks 110CNY = 50 masks = 1 Health worker 10 Days protection 1100CNY = 500 masks = 10 Health workers 10 Days protection 2200CNY= 1000 masks = 20 health workers 10 Days protection

4400CNY= 2000 masks = 40 health workers 10 Days protection 8800CNY = 4000 masks = 80 health workers 10vDays protection All amount welcome. Donate as little or as much as you can. PLEDGE YOUR SUPPORT NOW. Wechat mitchnocom for details & donation. All donations will be recorded. FAQS Frequently Asked Questions Q: Are these surgical masks, ordinary masks, or KN95 masks? A: We had the specs checked by our medical expert. These are surgical masks, good enough to protect health workers for now, so they can carry on with frontline duties. KN95 masks are almost impossible to source or too expensive; these must be reserved only for health workers directly treating COVID 19 cases. If you want to see the specs, or want details on logistics or supply, WeChat: averagejoe525. Joe Santiago is the one in charge of sourcing and logistics. Q: Can we get our masks through PH customs? A: Our DTI Trade Attache in Shanghai Consul Mario Tani has promised to support this initiative. Q: How are we sending this batch of donation to PH? A: All masks and medical supplies to the Philippines must be coursed through a goverment body these days. For this particular batch, we are piggyback riding only through another donation from the same factory. Q: How to donate? Will I get a fapiao? Or a record? A: Michelle Nocom will consolidate our donations, make a list, and post an accounting update in the Philcham SH wechat group chat. Yes, the factory can give us one fapiao, one only for our whole order. Q: What is our goal fund to be raised for batch 1? A: Our goal is to ship 10,000 surgical masks, which could protect 100 health workers round the clock (3 shifts per 24 hours) for 20 days only. (This is an estimation only, masks gets used up faster the more cases we'll have). We estimate CNY 22,500 including air freight, excluding customs. Costs fluctuate, but we will provide an expense report after. All proceeds will go to the COVID19 drive. When we get more, we donate more. Q: Why UERM? Why not the biggest hospitals? A: All hospitals urgently need masks and other PPEs, especially smaller hospitals in Metro Manila. Bigger government hospitals such as PGH and Heart Center already have sponsors. Small private hospitals in Metro Manila need donations asap, like UERM. Their 3 month supply of PPEs were depleted in just 10 days, due to the surge of patients doubling since March 9, 2020. Some of our members personally know doctors in UERM, and can assure the masks will go directory to their health staff. Q: I have my own masks. Customs in the PH is a problem. How to get it out? Can we send our masks through this batch? A: This batch will be shipped by the factory directly, so no other masks can be included. You can contact DTI, they can assist and facilitate nationwide (both for donations and for business). All provincial hospitals are coordinating closely with each DTI provincial and regional office. Metro Manila hospitals and DOH are coordinating with DTI Metro Manila.
